We put the CSi BarnFind/PartsCar on ebay a second time. The first time we attracted a con artist who closed the auction pretending to take the car at the buyitnow price $3800.
He joined ebay the morning the auction began. No history.
The "check" came from Battersea England, drawn on a South Carolina bank on the account of an "Auto Marine Dealer." The buyer was based in Florida. He promised a certified check. It was not. No water marks either.
The best part: the check was for $6500. We were to keep $4100.(he was buying leather to cover front seats), wire the difference to his "shipper". In Battersea England I presume.
He kept urging me to "cash" the check and send his shipper the money.
As soon as opened the envelope, crudely addressed with no return address, par avon from England, I knew what happened.
The new auction has no buy it now price, we will cancel suspicious bidders' and stated
"we do not make change."
