Everything shown on the PICs, but the cap for the starter is missing.

Funny, i've never seen a carb of an E3 or E9 with the2 black plastic parts on the side. Normally i see an aluminum part with 2 tubes there, allowing for water in/out, which i believe is a thermocoupling device adjusting the throttle setting.

Somehow converted to an electric choke like a Weber.

I have had the same observation.

Is that helping to remove risky water piping or there is better control over the heating?

This tn-starter (tn= thermo-nebenschluss) was only introduced in 9/75, so never came directly with our E9s https://www.bmw5er.net/vergaser_zenith_32_40_35_40_inat-159.html

Very interesting.

My 2.5CS has been produced on October 3rd, 1975 so it is one of the latest.

I'm curious what choke does it have. Expecting water based of course.

Looks like electric choke.
