Yes you would need to trim a small amount off each end to fit em e3. I can't recall specifically how much, maybe an inch to 2 inches.
The E3 nose has a more pronounced angle than the e9, so the center of the piece would need to be heated up and shaped to the correct angle. There would like be some other trimming and form fitting you would have to do depending on how you go about installing/securing it with hardware.
