FS: Roasted shell

I think that shell has better sheet metal than my car. Can't tell if the doors, hood and deck lid are aluminum, or in primer. Regardless, if the fire hasn't distorted the panels, I might be interested.

This is local to me, and I will be bidding on it. Hopefully cost of transporting a non rolling shell will keep most of the lunatics away but who knows...If I get it will be building it into a race car.

Thanks

I read through all the BAT comments last night. I agree with many. I don't think there is fire damage.

What is going on with the rear c-pillars. It looks like they have been cut and re-welded?
Is this where Karmann joined the panels and covered the welds with lead? The depression is quite deep for Karmann lead work that I've seen on other cars. That might add to the evidence of fire though it looks more like most of it was stripped of paint rather than burned. I know the front pillars have lead on them.

Hi Al,

I know you have every E3 part you'll ever need. I'll have a spare rear setup from my 2800 CS with open diff, trailing arms, drums, axles, etc. Come to think of it I'll have a front subframe as well. I'd like to keep the strut housings but I'm sure you have plenty of those already. I'd be up for some trades as well.

Well, the Copart auction just ended. I threw my hat in the ring, but did not come away a winner. Al, did you bid/win it? If so, I look forward to seeing the race car build!
Stephen

I got it, will advise what the heck it is when I pick it Monday.

Thanks

Congrats. Say, if after closer evaluation you decide not to build it, please let me know. I've had "low bidder's remorse" since the auction.
Best,
Stephen

I got 1k in it..OK deal but car does have fire damage....funny thing is was wondering where it came from but was from a friends shop and I saw it right after the fire 9 months ago...not sure why I did not realize it was that car, is from out of state though.

Gotta do a serious evaluation.

Al
