Dang - You may still want to consider the 38s. I was chatting with Carl Nelson in CA a few years ago about my triple weber sidedraft setup, and he swears by the 38s. He told me they are the only carbs he puts on his cars when he makes changes.

I originally had 32/36's on my coupe (2.8L) and put 38/38's on when I got the opportunity. The only thing I noticed was throttle response because of the mechanical secondary but I didn't notice much change in performance. I don't think the stock 2.8L draws enough air to take advantage of the larger carbs. I put a 3.5L in my E3 and had carb issues so I stole the 38/38's off the coupe and put them on the sedan. It runs WAY better than the coupe.

So after going through that experience I didn't think the 38/38's were worth the extra $$$ for the 2.8L. The 32/36's cost me about $675 shipped.

So the 38's are downdrafts right? Would they fit in my 2800cs? Are they needed for my 2.8 litre?
They can be made to fit your car. I'm told that the Zeniths are superior, if you can set them up properly. My car had been converted to downdraft 32/36s before I bought it, and I then changed to the triple sidedraft DCOMs.

I guess the main question is, what do you have now?

32/36's, from what people are saying I don't really need em unless I do some mods on my motor.

I'd rather have 38's than 32/36's, the latter will hold the engine back as compared to Zenith 35/40's, 38's or triples.

I would say at that price with manifolds, JAM adapters and nearly new carbs you could try them and always be able to resell then later and get your money back. No risk..
