fuel pump 1972 3.0cs

My mechanic telles me I need a new fuel pump for my coupé 1972 3.0 cs
I called the dealer and Gave them the 7 digit Vin and it comes up as a 328 not 3.0 cs
2 questions
Is that the norm?
Also where can I get a fuel pump.I'm in Brooklyn ny

You can't use old vins in BMW's computers. No workee. Go to penske and find your car based on model number and year then save it.

Does your pump look like this?
