Fuel sending unit question

Folks,
I know that there are no stupid questions, only stupid people :-D so forgive me. Since my fuel gauge sending unit is doing the Cha Cha I was thinking about replacing it. Does the stock unit work with a motronic setup?

Do I need
62161352617 (CS)
or a
62161354263 (CSi)

It depends. If you have a CS tank (one hole) - then no. In a one hole setup the sender and the pre-pump, or at the very least, the in/out fuel lines are one piece (from a newer 320 like model). If you have a CSI tank (two holes), then the sender is likely separate from the pump/suction unit, so yes. Pull it out, measure the length and give Carl a call.
