fuel tank sending unit removal

hi folks. i am trying to rmove the sending unit from the gas tank on a 74 3.0 cs. but it seems the bottom of the sending unit gets stuck in the opening of the tank as i take it out. don't know what is making it stick and don't want to force it out. any suggestions please?

Not sure if this helps but check the bottom of the tank to see if it has a dent in it. I had one that did and it bent the unit so it wouldn't come out correctly. I had to bend the metal a little to pull it out. It's def. best if you don't do that. Hopefully, somebody has better advice for you but it's a start. Good luck!
