Fuel/temp gauge question

I am having problems with a very intermittent gas gauge in my 81 Euro 635. I can get a new NA gauge and my question is, if I switch the faceplate to a metric one, does the gauge now need to be recalibrated? It would seem to me it should be OK??
 
It’s all the same stuff, Bert. Sending units are the same and just the numbers on the face plates are different. I have a good used one and can easily get a new one Germany. Not a big deal, easier than installing it.
