Galvanic protection of the engine aluminium parts for any BMW from 70/80/90

Hi guys, I have an example to show how the aluminium parts can be protected by galvanic works - in this case you see Nickel coating . Its heat resistant, prevents from oxidation of cleaned (sand/glass blasted) aluminium and of course all kind of dirt from oil, dust, dirty hands is very easy to clean off. It resistant to any chemicals that base on gasoline / oil .

Your Alu pieces look very nice but too bright to me. Vapor honing gives an authentic OEM finish and when sprayed with CeraKote matte clear ceramic it is very durable.

The word galvanic usually refers to using a metal most anodic (more likely to corrode) protecting a more cathodic (less likely to corrode) metal. This is why zinc blocks are bolted to ships so they will protect the steel by being corroded away first.
Aluminum can be plated with nickel by electro plating to form a complete sealing layer that will protect it, but if the coating is scratched or damaged, and then gets wet, the aluminum will be corroded first to preserve the nickel plating.

It's all in the chart. See how copper is not supposed to contact steel? I guess that's why BMW stopped using copper exhaust nuts.
Of course your exhaust or intake manifolds shouldn't be wet so it's probably not much of a problem most of the time.

I agree, its too bright comparing to the original finish. I have made this as a test years ago ...about 15 y. Thank you for your advice regarding achieving the original look of these parts

Thank you for all these informations . My English is not perfect, so by the world galvanic I meant the same electro-chemical proces like chrome plating , but in this case it was only plated with nickel, and after 15+ years I can't see any issues with that parts .
