The rubber boot surrounding the gas filler neck has 2 holes in it to allow access to the nuts that affix the gas door to the body. BMW made rubber bungs to fill those holes.

If I can make them cheap, who is interested?

I'm in for at least 4. Now the real question is can you make the rubber boot? I'd be in for 4 of those as well!

Stan:
to give you a point of reference for pricing, W+N sells them for 5.50euro each (Excl. VAT €4.62)
-- but then you may have to pay for the 32euro DHL shipping if that is all you are getting. hope this helps

Count me in for 2. Also interested if you make the rubber boot.

No thanks. I got some a few years ago made by virgin Malaysian damsels in zero VOC factories after the rubber trees had been blessed on site by the Pope.

Of course if yours are similar and have pics of the damsels........

Update

The bung has been reverse engineered (I suspect he use a3D printer) so now there is a solid mold. The next step is to look into the correct rubber material.

At that point I will be able to get a rough idea of cost.

Well, this is another way to skin the cat...

Gavin posted that W&N has these bungs. If we did a group buy, the shipping to the USA would be greatly reduced. So if the 32 Euro would pay for the shipping of 30 bungs each one would be about $8.00 plus shipping from the NH to anywhere in the USA.

Anyone want to grab the baton on this one?

Pre order

I asked W & N if they wanted to buy them from me but I don't think they understood the question because they said they no longer have them and cannot get another batch.

My nephew made a mold and after using several different rubber compounds he has come up with a suitable replacement. I asked him what it would cost to produce based on a run of 40. His answer is $55.00 plus shipping or mailing in a bubble wrap each, which is a far cry from the NLA part from W & N.

In the photos below, the OEM is on the left and reproduction on the right.
