Gas tank treatments

I've pulled and drained my gas tank and eagerly await the UPS truck pulling up with the Por-15 refinishing kit.

While I wait, is there anything I should do with the tank and surrounding area?

What about the silver tube (immersed tube fuel level indicator)? Any special treatment?

When I was waiting for the UPS truck for my POR-15 I sanded, primed, and repainted the outside of the tank satin black.
