gear shift gaitor

quick question, my euro csl has a leather gaitor on the gear stick, but it has a zip on the rear of it (near the handbrake) is this normal ?

it has worn away at the other leather on the consul and I was going to replace it.

any comments ?

yes, the original had a bronze zipper on the back. many new replacements have a brass zipper which looks wrong. coupeguy has these for sale ... and i have also seen some on ebay in europe.
