Get a load of these!

Wow! Those fire breathing 3.5CSL racing coupes with the 4 valve M88 motors are just awesome.

One of the few film collages I have seen that features
so many different racing CSLs, IMSA, LeMans, etc
They never all appeared together,

Oh, Bert, most of the cars in these period film clips
had an engine designated M49/2 : dry sump upright twin-cam,
it was the predecessor to the M88.

Lovely sounds though eh?

Dp, thanks for the engine clarifications. I've read many of these 3.5CSLs reached way over 200 mph (220-230 mph ?) during the Le Mans' Mulsane straight. What about those 800hp+ turbocharged monster? Too bad the CS chassis's couldn't handle the immense power and heat of these engines.

BTW, next to F1, IMSA (glory years of the mid 1970's-mid 1990's) has always been one of my favorite racing series.
