GETRAG 262 (Internal Parts supplier)

Hi evryone,

My 1974 CS has a bad 4th Gear and clutch rattle. I would rather do a rebuild that risk buying a secondhand 40 year old box. Does anyone know where I can get rebuild parts for a 262 or if any other getrag shares the same internals? This is going to be expensive so I want to do it right.........
 
Google Jim Blanton. His reputation is as high as I have seen and he is considered the master BMW gear box rebuilder

In your case, I would pay to have it done and have it backed up by the rebuilder
 
I don't think I'd spend the money on a 4-speed box. Certainly keep the original aside but I'd put another one in. They can be had for short money. I am currently using one to hold down large papers and act as a decoy to keep my 265/5s from being stolen.
 
I cannot tell where you're located but over the winter I replaced a perfectly good running 4-speed with a 5-speed transmission. If you interested in the 4-speed let me know. I did however had to use the speedo drive from this gearbox but you should be able to use the one from your box. If you need to, I let you borough the tool I made to remove the speedo drive gear
 
Hi located in Dubai USA so unless you are willing to give it to me I doubt it wold be viable for me with the shipping! But thanks I will bear it in mind.
