GETRAG 265/5 CLOSE RATIO GEARBOX

Dogleg gearbox.
Checked by my shop prior to purchase.
Turns smoothly.

Asking $3000 plus shipping

Located in NH, USA

EDIT:
A recent comment has gotten me to realize that not everyone understands the admittedly confusing way in which Getrag numbers it's gearboxes. This thread from Big Coupe will explain it.

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to introduce myself. Although not an E9 owner, I'm a life long E24 owner. I joined on the recommendation of my shop who said some of you might be interested in my built M30 and dogleg gearbox I'm trying to sell. Unfortunately, due to a degenerative ankle injury, my 40 years of rowing through gearboxes has come to an end. I've already sold my M635, and now it's time to sell my project car. The shell for my 1979 Series 1 E24 is being marketed elsewhere because I didn't think anyone here would be interested. But I would imagine the engine and gearbox would be of interest some of you.
With the proliferation of online scammers, I figured it might be a good idea to introduce myself like this...especially considering that I only joined to sell something. I can be found on big coupe , mye28 and various E24 based Facebook forums under this screen name or GRNH on big coupe. I only mention this to let you all know that although none of you know me here, I'm well known elsewhere.

Thanks!
-George

I tried! I scrubbed it with Simple Green and a stiff brush. Any advice as to what I could try? Thanks!
I’ve found mineral spirits works to clean aluminum castings. Would be helpful if you had a 3.07 LSD (side loader) to go with the gearbox. That combination gives good RPM for highway cruising yet close rations for the twisty roads.

NAPA sells a product called Aluminum Brightner. Not for polished wheels as it does have a light amount of acid in it. It does clean very well. I bought a rattle can of a product called Argent at the local hot rod shop. It is a gorgeous silver not like a chrome paint, And my trans came out looking as new

Never thought of mineral spirits...thanks for the info!

I was planning on a 3.25 for the car, but never got around to trying to source one.

Thanks Bert, I'll try to find it.
