getrag 265 e30 M3 upgrade

It seems there are a number of transmission upgrades happening this spring.

I've read the threads on this and understand that this is the right transmission for a 5 speed upgrade of my 73 CS.

Is there a specific issue with connecting to my current spedo?

Is this more complicated than finding a Getrag 265 from a 81/82 528i?

The speedo gear in your 4 speed will fit into the 5 speed 265.
You will need an automatic cable due to longer run.
No brainer.

It's the same transmission, from an e12 or an e30 M3. The only difference is the one from the M3 won't have the speedo gear installed, so you'll have to pull the output shaft, replace the spacer with the main drive gear, and then install the speedo cable drive in the trans housing.
