Hi All -- was browsing the pictures of this beautiful coupe for sale in CA, and noticed that the original automatic tranny carrier is used with only a single bushing to hold up this person's tranny. I had thought this wouldn't work, so I used a carrier from an e24.

That said, I believe these stamped steel mounts are stronger than the newer aluminum ones. Has anyone who has done a 5 speed conversion retained the automatic mount?
 
I am using an e12 assembly which appears to be stamped steel not aluminium. 2 bushings attach to the 265 and one behind the lever to the car body.
 
My original support had two tabs welded/added so bolts still fit in track on floor. Otherwise they are too near the open slot where the bolts can slip out.
