Looks like a three piece case so Getrag 265/6 I assume. The bolts on the guibo should have the head on the guibo, not the flange. All of yours are pointed in the same direction. In essence you tighten the nuts on the flange, never on the guibo.

The mounts are bolt through on the /5 and bolt on for the /6
I’m sorry I don’t understand this, are we talking about the transmission mounting points and what’s the difference between bolt on and bolt through?
I’m working on my 5 speed at the moment so trying to understand everything.
Thanks for any help.

I think Don is saying that since the bolts that hold the casing together have a bolt and a nut, not just a bolt, that you have a close ratio 265/5 trans.

I will post clear pics when I get to shop today

Thanks for the help , I will hopefully from the additional posted photos try and work out if its 265/5 or a 265/6

My apologies to all in that I did manage to get more numbers off the trans which probably would have made it easier from the start
262.0.510.00 then off to the side 225 1.3. So 265/6 seems to be the call , Thanks.

Hi there Chris , in reference to the bolt direction , I put the tailshaft in by myself and by the time I got it all up in place it was easier to install the bolts in that direction, I did tighten the head of the bolt down on the nut , not ideal but hopfully no problem. Thanks

To educate myself, one more question:
With the numbers of 262.0.510.00 and 225 1.3. how can one define the gearbox to be 265/6?

All of the casting numbers are the same so they don’t really help, it is the length of the transmission and the bolts holding the case together that Don pointed out.

The easiest way to differentiate is to look
at the profile of the center section.

This should help.

You didn’t provide great pics but you included a shot of your tail housing. Using the reference pic above and am example of mine, you can see the difference. The dogleg is more of an extended 262
where the 265/6 is more of a one—off. I haven’t verified but I believe the dogleg tail housing is the 262 housing.

Here is the tail housing on my dogleg. Note
the “cross hairs” where yours is machined smooth.

I am totally out of my depth , in regards to the Trans , and a lot of mechanical frankly, I appreciate the detective work. Thanks
