Getrag Speedo drive o-ring removal - help

Can somebody please tell me how to remove the speedo drive from my 265 getrag? I would like to replace the o-ring and any other seal up there as it appears to be leaking. I removed the cable but the drive seems to be stuck in the shaft.

Any hints appreciated.

Its a lot like whistling. Once you do it it's easy.

Don, you are supposed to provide a hint...does it just fall out...do I need to stick a bolt in there and give it a tug...is there a secret?

It's the Oring that has the resistance. You can pull or push but pulling is easiest.

How do you grab the thing? It's recessed and pliers don't seem to do the trick.

Hook a piece of stiff wire and spin.

There it is...thanks. Never pulled one out and did not want to break anything. Is there more than the o-ring as a seal up there?

I incorrectly though there was an O ring on the cable itself where it inserted this drive.
