A bigger question is when the rebuild was done. Jim doesn't do MM rebuilds anymore, and he is the one who created their reinforcement system. He does his own rebuilds now.

Plus, there's the miles.

So the question is not first what it's worth, but what is the guarantee. That's where the value would be. OTOH, if you're too far to make it at all ecomonical to ship to wherever Jim Rowe or Jim Blanton (of Blanton Transmissions, last I heard) is, then the guarantee is moot and you just got what you got.

I paid 350 several years ago for an e12 with my present five speed OD trans. The City towed the rest of the hulk for free once I gave them the title. Trans and a few related bits were about all I took.

That said, I would consider offering, say, 600 bucks and see how it goes, but this is an ebay auction, and any damn thing could happen.
 
My $0.02 -- I was running a box-stock 265 OD of indeterminate age behind the monster 3.5 in my e12. It suffered track days, adolescent hot rod behavior, etc. etc. The car could consume a stock clutch in 6 months if you worked at it, but that 265 never made an untoward noise. The kid I sold it to drives it even harder, the trans is still fine.

Save your money. Buy a good used 265, install new seals for input, output, shift rod and speedo drive. Drive happy.
 
I agree the 265s are pretty tough. The only weak point seems to be the 2nd gear synchros.

$1,825 is waaaaay tooooo much given the toughness of these boxes in stock condition. Be glad you didn't pay for it.
