One door and one rear quarter light (rear side window) move back and forth if you pull and push them when slightly open. This is not the case on the other two on this car. They sit very firm.

What causes this, starting with the rear quarter light?
I suspect the 2 screws which secure the glass to the window mechanism. However, I don´t want to tighten them too (bloody) hard with risk of damage.
Could it be the whole mechanism, secured by 2 screws (at bottom and low rear side) ?

As to the door, I suspect the rear, slanting black guide, which can be moved slightly through the 2 thin nuts at the top, securing it.

When it comes to vertical parallell adjustment of the door glass to rear quarter light, I tried many combinations using the 2 bolts securing the rear quarter light glass to the mechanism (as described in the Blue Book). I still didn´t get it as good as I wanted, the lower end being too far forward. Again, I secured the screws properly but not as hard as I could.

And then the tightness: with door closed and windows fully closed, I can slide a business card freely in the middle (about 7"). The rest is nice and not overly tight (as on another car).

Sideways movement as well

I now noticed that with the rear quarterlight half open, there is noticeable play sideways too, that is from left to right if you look at the car from behind. The other quarter light doesn`t move at all, in any direction.

What causes this sideways movement?

I had the whole assembly out for a thorough cleaning, regreasing of the channel guides, installing new rubber end stops, rust treating the bottom of the space, inside the rocker panels etc etc. When manually winding the window up and down, there is this sideways play of window vs mechanism, but I would have thought that something secures it when it is reinstalled.

Other that these glass movement issues, I now have a very, very fast movement up and down on this quarter light.
