glove box light switch ?

Could anyone tell me if the bracket with two holes under the glove box lock are for a light switch.. I have read the earlier cars have the switch on the console side , but do the latter 1974+ cars happen to have them with the lock... Or am I completely wrong and is it there for some other reason?

thanks Jesus, I have read with interest your detailed description of using a hella switch and fitting it to the lock..but does that answer my question of where the actual switch was fitted from the factory ? mybe I have missed something !:

That's for rubber buffer, part number 51175790035 according to RealOem its still available
