Mid afternoon, I received a phone call from Nat Arnold, one of the founders of Southeast Sharkfest.
Dan Erwin, a very good friend whom I meet thru the BMW hobby .... was killed in a motorcycle accident on Friday ..... 8/8/08

If you have read ANY magazine with BMW articles in the past 10 years you have read some of Dans humerous work .....

Dan was a good man and the hobby has lost a great ambassador .....

Please remember him and his family in your prayers !!!!!

Dan was also a fellow coupe owner. He wrote a humorous essay several years ago in Roundel about the perils of the coupe from first hand experience. Rust in peace, Dan.

That is terrible

I gave him a ride at Oktoberfest 2002 to one of the events when his car would not start or something I cannot remember. He drove his "crusty" '02 from his home in Atlanta to the special gathering that year in Keystone Colorado. Pulled it out of a field and drove it all the way there. There is a Roundel article about it around the October 2002 issue.
