Anyone have an opinion on a good shop in the Sacramento area for a '73 E9? (I live in Roseville, CA.) There are a number of shops around, so I thought I'd reach out to the forum members for some input.

I'm leaning towards Lubo's in Mid-Town.

BTW, I just got my first E9...I want to get a starting point from a "pro" and then I'll start to do my thing from there.

For starters I'm going to have them do a complete once over. I'll have completed a ~1000 mile trip so I'll have a pretty good idea where I'm at with it, but as you know these guys have a special perspective because they've been working on them for over 35 years. Do this...don't do that...if it were me then I'd... The car has just under 35K miles on it so who knows what they'll come back at me with.

Schatz&Krum used to be good guys to work with in Sac.Had alot of Knowledge on the tii and I saw a few couple's in his shop?

He may be a bit far for you in Oakland, but Don Lawrence (sfdon) is da man! He knows these coupes inside and out and will let you know exactly what is going on with your car. He did a fantastic job on my 5spd conversion for a great price and I don't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Yes the car has full service records. The previous owner is a BMW exec and bought the car in '92 with 22K miles. Since then he put a mere 12K miles on it over the last 20 years. He travels internationally quite frequently, so rarely home, and only drove the car locally on non-rainy summer days. Essentially a double limit of opportunity to drive, plus a pure respect for the vehicle and it all makes sense. Outside of that the car has mainly been sitting in his garage. He sold the car because he was moving to Europe permanently. I've asked him to write a history of the car in his own words, which I hope to get in the next couple of weeks. After we completed the sale, he stated in his own words, that he was confident that this car is one of finest 1973 BMW 3.0 CS in the world. (FWIW) Quite the find indeed. I'm excited to drive it back in a couple of weeks once the shop is done servicing all the items from disuse. I'll be putting ~1K on it right off the bat...I almost feel guilty.

I have a low mileage car and can relate to the guilt but mine's not pristine and I justify it by telling myself that I can't take it with me when I'm gone so carpe (sunny) diem! The time-warp and thrill of driving it is what it's all about for me and I keep it a nice as I can given my (highly limited) 2 kids in college resources.

After talking with Lubo's and Schatz&Krum I wasn't left with a warm fuzzy. Anyone else have a recommendation for a shop near Sacto? I'm not looking for modification work, but stock BMW type stuff...horn no worky, ebrake light, etc.

I would be happy to help. Realistically for a coupe in the condition such as yours I would recommend taking it to Lajolla. I know there is a shop in the city but I am not familiar with their work.

Keep in mind the ebrake light also serves as low brake fluid indicator, so it may be low on brake fluid or the wires to the brake fluid float may be loose.

For horn you can swap the relays on the front left and see if that fixes it, or look at wires and fuse. Unlikely both horns went bad.
