can anyone recommend a reliable, trustworthy mechanic in London who knows e9's? My brakes have completely failed and my coupe is now sitting in the rain outside my house...

cheers

the brake failure culprit appears to be one of the servos. There's brake fluid all round the bottom of it and on the chassis below. I feel pretty lucky really, as i took it down to Goodwood yesterday, as they were having a meet for german sports cars and managed to make it there and back round some fairly fast country lanes without any problems. When i got back i parked up outside my house for a couple of hours before going to move it to my garage. i pulled out onto my road, applied the brakes and nothing happened. i shit myself and slammed the handbrake on. its so annoying as my garage is only 5 mins away, but i have to cross a fairly main road to get there. i think they'll have to be some early morning manoeuvres to get it back there later...

james - i can thoroughly recommend gary at autobahn who is based in rickmansworth just out of west london. he has always done a real good job on my csi and has restored a beautiful gold csi to concours condition of his own - his number is 01923 718907

Brakes

James,

I have had a few head aches regarding brakes recently and this led me to replace most of the system from master cylinder, servos through to brake lines.

In the process of replacing everything unknown I bought a couple of servos off fleabay and had them rebuilt and tested. I then put them on the car.

It seems that there was nothing wrong with the originals as the problem was still apparent. This means that I have two used but working servos that I was going to put on e-bay. They do owe me £cash but as they are rare and expensive new (W&N used to list them) the may get you out of a hole.

BTW. Mine was the red CSL parked in the in-field at Goodwood.

REgards,
Paul

hi paul,

do you have an email i can contact you off the board on?

what time did you get to goodwood at? i only saw the other fjord blue CSL with the M tech badge on the grill. not sure if that was someones on the board? i loitered around for a bit waiting for the owner but had to leave at 10am. its a shame i missed you.

cheers,

james

Goodwood

James,

I arrived at about 9:15 and left at 11ish.

I saw both the blue cars and maybe you in person - I always think that at events like this owners should wear badges telling others what car they are driving/associated with.
