Well, it didn't start out that way but three important things happened this weekend.

First, I got the new Roundel Magazine and saw the story about our good friend Chris Macha. It's a nice peace in general but doesn't even get close to capturing the encyclopedic knowledge Chris has about our E9s and tech stuff in general. I still remember Chris telling us all about the Boeing DC-3 at the 2016 Bruce McCall Jet Center event in Monterey where six of us east coasters had rented a truck to transport our cars out for the 100th BMW birthday celebration. In general, I regard Chris up there with Murray Fowler, a mutual friend we lost years ago, who got both of us further along with our E9 fascination.

Chris is a consumate embassador for our cars and an all around great guy to boot. He joined us for the 2017 Vintage event in North Carolina where we all shared a house together and also enjoyed Steve Armstrong's boudin sausage from New Orleans.

Second, I had lunch with Chris Ohmes and Doug Dolan yesterday to plan our 2019 event calendar and we came up with Sharkfest in April, the NC Vintage in May (including hosting another dinner for my upper NE friends travelling down), Lime Rock vintage in September and perhaps even the Hilton Head Concours in November to finish things up. Time to get Bluebelle ready!

Third, speaking of Bluebelle, I spoke with Don Lawrence after way too long to discuss upgrading my Megasquirt 1.0 ECU in 2019/2020 which will involve, evidently, a lot more than a new ECU. But, then again, I was a trailblazer in 2011 with this new engine management approach and I've enjoyed the results immensely! So maybe it's time to do things really right for my B34 high compression engine and Don's very first engine job.

p.s. on the Monterey reference above, I'm thinking of bringing my car back there in 2020 if there are any North Easter and mid-Atlantic folks that want to share a truck...

Happy 2019 all!

Wayne

Hi Steve, according to Chris and Doug it's the last weekend in April at a place tbd in North Carolina, Atlanta, or some such....

Looking forward to seeing the January Roundel now.

Yes, Sharkfest is usually the last weekend in April, location varies. I attend the Mid America '02Fest in Arkansas that weekend.

The Vintage in Asheville, consider this my RSVP for dinner, Wayne. We'll be driving the M5 again, we had a caravan of 5 cars to Asheville from New England last year. Will keep you posted on NE attendees

Lime Rock is August 30 - September 2. Weekend pass tickets are on sale for $60 for the weekend until Jan 31, 2019. Car Corrals will be available later.

Hilton Head is a delightful show, attended last year with the BMW Classic CCA. Highly recommend spending some time sightseeing in Savannah GA & Charleston SC.

Consider The Vintage at Saratoga July 12-14 2009. The BMW Classic CCA is having a few driving days before details to come. http://www.vintageatsaratoga.com
FYI: Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is the following weekend.
