Guess the color

I'd guess chamoinix or polaris
The top word will not give you the color. The color name is on the line below (well under the red paint). Top word is Außenlackierung - BMW.
Check tag on driver's side 'A' pillar for code number. Open door and it should be above the door brake.

Thanks for the replies but I can't reach the car in person to examine it... Anyway, it is of a light color in your opinion - hopefully we'll see what the actual color is.
If you had the VIN you could find out what color it was when it left the factory.
Send the VIN to [email protected] get build date delivery date and original color.
Send Andreas Harz at BMW Archive Group an email with your VIN and he will promptly send back an email with the production and delivery dates and location as well as the color code

Polaris was the right answer, thanks for your help - see below:
