Woke up to 4” of snow in SW Portland. Was all set with 9:40am DMV appointment to get YOM Oregon plates on my coupe. Rescheduled to 5/10. Still snowing as we speak.
Left my snow shovel in NJ.
:(

Not as bad as that - but about 30 miles north of Seattle, I had to shovel 3" of frozen slushy snow off my truck this morning.
No fun...

About 4 years ago, my son was set to come home from college in Portland and it had snowed about an inch the night before. His ride to the airport cancelled, no Uber or Lyft was working, mass transit was out and the roads were blocked by cars abandoned. Still the airline said the flight was on schedule.I asked if they planned on having any passengers since nobody had a way to get to the airport.

Airline wanted 200 bucks to change his flight. I waited a half hour, called them and I got somebody with a heart and common sense. Changed the flight for 22 bucks.

Bottom Line: Portland has zero ability to handle snow, some airline people are nice!

I hear you bud. It is amazing how much the weather changes in these convergence zones. We had lots of clear skies.

It hits home as I was driving up in your neck of the woods in the rig below. Five trips in a 5 yard dump truck with a conservative 10K lbs of fill in each trip. Rental guys said “Wow you did some driving this weekend!” I’ll be at it again on Saturday. Hopefully the weather holds.

Nothing like driving up and down the snowy “hills” near Puget Sound in this thing. The price I pay to do absolutely everything myself. :D

If I wasn’t so pressed for time I would swing by and check out the new garage!

This local rig definitely doesn’t see much highway time.

This is actually hail! I hit sun, sleet, hail, and snow all day Sunday.

This is the elevation profile over 6 miles between I-5 and my drop location. Perfect terrain for snowy roads!

Found a little rock anyway!

Yes the PNW cities exhaust their entire snow removal budget after the first storm. A far cry from my life in the midwest where every city had a fleet of trucks.

This was my neighborhood after four days without snowfall this winter.

The combination of no snow removal, steep hills, and inexperienced drivers makes for a tricky situation. Not exactly dangerous I would say, because everyone just hunkers down. The roads are empty.

I was there on business years ago. Last flight in before they shut down th airport and last shuttle to the hotel.
After that 3 days in the hotel, even though, accustomed to snow I could drive in it, nothing was open.
