guys, while i am putting things back together after replacing the carpet ... i noticed that the wire is not connected at the handbrake. so i'm curious where it is exactly supposed to be attached. a good pic would be helpful.

there is a potential more pressing question, and perhaps the reason that the wire isn't attached. i notice that the spring connector at the rear of the handbrake handle never touches the handle. any ideas?

Does this help? Perhaps post a pic of your situation.

perfect pic Steve ... just what i needed, THANKS. now to figure out what i can do to get the plastic piece to hit the back of the handle. i will start with bending the piece of metal that the spring backs to.

I don't think that white piece contacts the ebrake arm. I think it is a guide for a rod which has a contact on the opposite end. When the ebrake arm is depressed it presses the rod outward, enabling a spring to break the ground connection for the light circuit. When the arm is pulled upward, another concentric spring pushes the contact on the end of the rod toward the contact point completing the circuit and illuminating the light.
