If you are out that way check out the $400 parts car also. This one has been for sale for a long time:

That parts car is about as far as you can get from Kauai and still be in Hawaii. 285 miles and a plane ride.

It's of some interest to me mainly because who ever owns it has had several E9 over the years, including possibly mine. The PO of my car bought it from Kona, and I saw ads for another one there for $3k when I was buying mine on Maui, and again a few years later.

Of course this 'parts car' might be the same one that has deteriorated over the years and simply listed several times. Shipping a non running car from one island to another or to the mainland is difficult. At least it has clean title. But to ship a car, it has to be currently registered and insured. State regulations. That makes it tough if its a non runner.

The Big Island doesn't have many vintage BMW devotees, thus the low price. I was also able to take advantage of the lack of competition for vintage BMWs on Maui when I bought mine as a non runner.

I don't believe the seller is forum member bejerana who hasn't posted here since 2013. I have a friend that lives in Kona, but she's in Germany at the moment. I may be able to have her take a look.

The parts car guy is tough to deal with from what I hear. I don't mean the price. Don't get your hopes up.

Seems like a nice car to take a vacation and pick up an E9 at a reasonable price.
