My hazard switch (1975 CS) failed in the usual way, it popped out and won't stay in (deactivated).
I took it apart and bent the tab per the shade-tree fix that is well documented here on the forum.
2 years later and it's failed again. I to put a bit of business card in there to keep it in long enough to get home.

Have any of you experienced a recurrence after you've fixed you switch?

Yeah I should just cough up the $75 and get a new one.
It's just that I love the cheap kludges so much...

The push pin fix is faster, cheaper and lasts longer.....

If you like cheap kludges, check out an idea that Arde posted a few years ago at: https://www.e9coupe.com/forum/threads/re-emergency-flasher-switch.14525/#post-118133 See post #15 in that thread.

I made this modification to my coupe and feel it makes a lot of sense. The plastic used in those hazard switches has the hardness of cream cheese - the force of the spring against those little tangs is a disaster waiting to happen. Arde's idea of reversing the switch's functions - in for hazard, out for normal turn signals - frees the tangs from having to bear that force.
