Hi all

Question on the mounting of the headlight frames, I have sandblasted and painted these and about to re install, when I took these of the car there was bits of hand cut inner tube rubber between the chassis and the headlight frame and between the head of the bolts and the frame.
As hand cut bits of inner tube are not OE, what is the standard here?????
do the frames just bolt up to the chassis hard or is there some kind of rubber isolator?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Hi all

in my car there were no rubbers in that area, but i assumed that it was not the 1971 production status, but some renewal, or rework on the headlights

when i reassembled the headlight frames i introduced a hand made rubber disk between the frame and the chassis, but not another between the bolt washer and the frame

i want to know the reason for yes/no rubber isolation if there must be any

the only possible issue would be to dampen vibrations i guess, because not electrical isolation is possible that way

any info will be welcomed !

Headlight buckets

Yes. I just repainted mine and there were the same rubber shims behind my mounting bolts.

They looked a little "non-original", but the must be there for a reason.
(so I remounted them).

Headlight connections

While you're in there, can you check the colors of the wires?

I labelled my plugs but they fell off, so I'm unsure which connector goes to the inside and outside lamps.

Can you help?

The connector with three wires goes to the outside lamp (low beam and high). The two wire connector to the inside (high beam only).
