Headlight Issue

Seems I've seen this before, but can't locate it in search...

Just replaced H4 bulb (no Hella's available, but this one appears identical) and now can only get the light (outside right) to illuminate on high; low beams get nothing on that light.

Help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Mechanic's Rule!

Look at what you touched last, that's the most likely place to find something amiss.

Verify outside the car that the bulb you installed actually has two working filaments. Don't get grease on the bulb.

Compare right to left for similarity.

Use a test light to chase voltage or lack thereof.

Read the wiring diagram, understand how the components illustrated are supposed to work, then you'll have an idea how/where you should get volts.

Sure enough, after numerous different attempts to troubleshoot, I bought another new H4 bulb---worked perfectly! Now I just have to put the front end back together...
