headliner install

Headliner with sunroof and servicing same

Alan, the sunroof install is the same as the non sunroof install less the bows. Many would think this exclusion makes it easier. Some cars still have the wood fastened toward the rear glass while others do not. If yours does not just glue the headliner to the rear window lip or make a new board. I provided a link to a "vraned" link in your post regarding the same which gives a good pictorial for you to follow. Your posting pictures would be a great reference for others but why not have a little visual guidance along the way?

Make sure you have many rabbit clips and be mindful of your center "x" cut for the sunroof. I recall stretching everything first, then installing the front hard molded piece, then making the cut for the sunroof. It worked for me but if this is not the correct sequence, others may chime in.

While you're at it you may want to look at your sunroof itself. Keith Kreeger did a wonderful write up, which can be found here: http://my2002tii.com/spring_2005/sunroof.htm

I used his site as a reference to rebuild my 2002 a decade ago. Some of his write ups are applicable to the e9 as well. Great to read your questions and to see the patient support of the other members.

Good luck with the install.
