Headrest question

My headrests are somewhat seized. I've read on the forum that this is fairly common. I'm currently cooking the shafts in plenty of liquid wrench. In removing them do I just (attempt to) yank them out? Is there a hidden release button/catch or anything like that? (Mercedes R107s weirdly have a secret button).

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I've given up trying to shift it. Spent ages whacking it in all directions with a large mallet as hard as I dared. Amazing how corrosion can set so firm when it's something inside the car. Previous owners were serous back-sweaters.
