Hello guys,

I’ve been a long time lurker for information and found this forum quite useful in many searches so thought I better get my account verified and say hello!

now, I don’t own an E3 or E9 but I am the custodian of an E12 and E28 so please don’t throw me out, yet!

My E12 is a 530 MLE, number 23 of 110 type 1 produced in 1976, which shares a lot of components from the E3/E9 as I’ve learned over the last year whilst giving the car a full mechanical refurb. Tuned last week it put down 200bhp at the wheels with peak power arriving a 6200rpm with200Ibs Ft from 4400rpm.

Being a lightweight model it certainly doesn’t feel slow but by no stretch a “fast” car either. It’s a rare beast and the feeling it gives when driving is something special!

My E28 is a 1986 Euro/UK spec M535i that has been fully restored, repainted and is now have a 3.7 litre high compression M30B34 (B37) built by BMW experts Hack Engineering. The spec of the engine should churn out approx 300bhp when done, paired to a Getrag 265/5 “dogleg” and a S3.45 final drive. It should be a fun car to drive!

Welcome!

I'm wondering when E12 (not "top" versions but in general) will find respective prices for car fans.

Isn't that car worth it?

The good thing is there is so many NOS parts available for this model. Mostly common E12 ones, not for limited editions.

Love your cars @ROOTS. Especially like the E12. Was trying to guess whereabouts in London you are from the pics. I’m going to guess North West!

I run a little E9 WhatsApp group. If you DM me your details, you’re welcome to join. A friendly and knowledgeable bunch of guys. (dont worry that you don’t have an E9 - your E12 more than qualifies you ;))
