Help....Bought new stereo how do you fit it in the original area?
The one in it now has the old fashioned long poles that stick through
dash area and the rest around it seems to be solid metal. Does the metal area around remove? How do I fit in newer one that's just one shape that seems to be meant to fit in one slot.

Thanks

There are two or four screws on either side of the centre console - these will release the two 'wings' which are bolted to the metal tray you mention - the front fascia should come our with this tray. The radio will be screwed / held onto this tray.

Not sure what your new stereo looks like but from your description it sounds like a newer style din unit so you may want to cut  your original fascia panel to enlarge the aperture for the din size newer units. If you want to!

Or buy an already cut one from a member who wants to revert to the old style to save from butchering.

So the whole front will come out including the ac vents and area where knobs are, do u have to remove the knobs as well as it looks like one big piece.
When you get it out it looks like the only way to enlarge is to cut a larger
hole in the metal, how do you do this, with what?

Thanks
