I took this pic 23-24 years ago during the Monterey Historics. Does anyone know the year this was taken?

I do not believe it was for the 1996 BMW featured marque year as there are no BMW's on the asphalt infield.

I think it was for one of the coupefests of your...

I counted at lease 70 e9's there.

We REALLY need to top that number as well as the 100 plus e9 count of 1996!

C U all in August! Wayne

As long as I can remember, the coupe corral has always been at the turn 5 corner. This corral as pictured was situated in front of the paved strip between turn 2 and 5. I attended all the coupefests between 1989-1995, but unfortunately, I did not make it to the 1996 BMW featured extravaganza.

The "pavement" has always been reserved for the Ferraris and the Lamborghinis, so the fact that the BMWs were situated next to the exotics may indicate it might've been the 1996 event. But then again, I could be completely wrong. ;-)

Wow, chances are my Verona is there with its previous owner. Who knows.

more about the pic..

just behind the coupes on the dirt are several Ferraris and Lambos on the right and then perhaps all the Mazda Miatas in the world. these are parked on the pavement. to the left of the coupes are what appear to be Maseratis and if I were to guess, the Alfa club in the red and white tent.

I also think that Ping Tsao is the guy in the tan slacks and teal blue shirt standing in front of his M5 coupe... I think the green coupe to the right of Ping's is Mike Goertz'. My Verona is the first one on the left.

There is a sign on a white e9 (George Naas?) advertising the CS Registry and an easy up apparently selling CS registry stuff.

I looked at my (very) old CS register magazine from Sept 93 and found an article by Tom Colitt indicating a big coupe corral and coupefest held at the 1992 Historics. Anyone know if he is still around?

I'm feeling very old and nostalgic right now... Wayne

I'm going to say that is 1991. it's the year I bought my coupe and came to the historic races the first time for coupefest.

I didn't drive my car out but was blown away by seeing so man coupes at one time. I have some pics of the cars somewhere. I can try to did them up and post them if anyone is interested.

OK are some pics from Coupefest 91. Who do you recognize?
* I pretty sure the black CS is Ping's pre-M5 motor
* I think the red car is Wayne's

A few more pics

I think the 2nd pic has Mike Goertz in the background, not sure who's wearing the Joey Butafuco pants on the right

The 3rd pic is at the Los Laureles Lodge which was the site of the post event show.
I remember enjoying a very nice conversation with Dick Glass at that event
