My car had an antenna on the front fender, but it looks like some cheap aftermarket thing just stuck on
I see photos of E9’s with antennas in this location, but also the left rear fender
So far I have not been able to find any parts books references
I would appreciate any info on correct location(s)
Maybe these were all aftermarket?
My car is a 1972
And if anyone has the correct set-up for sale I would be interested
Thanks, Mark

Hi
I do need permission or log in for the Google site
Did all 72's have the antenna in the front? Installed by the dealer?

Try clicking the link, if it asks you for permission it will email me.

Dealer installed, most often in this spot but also in trunk especially in Europe.

I can also email it to you in a pdf.

Yep, dealer installed, sometimes wherever they wanted! It's easier to put an electric antenna in the trunk as it is exposed in fender well if installed up front.

Plus I think it looks cooler in the trunk at a slight angle backwards. But the shorter cable to a fender mount may provide better reception.

I just looked at some pics of my '73 malaga I had back in the 80's and noticed the antenna was mounted passenger side front fender vs. driver fender on mine now so like Chris said you never know.

my '71 has the antenna mounted on the passenger side - front. there is a HUGE downside to this location as there isn't much room to put the antenna in ... so i have to use an american style antenna that won't retract all the way. PITA.

I guess I will have to split the difference and put it in the middle
(not really)
I went up and chatted with Anton today, he was thinking about a hidden antenna, that sounds good if it would work

hidden antenna

hi there, i don't have an antenna in my cs after i had my quarter panels replaced. since i don't listen much to the radio and would rather listen to the mechanical clatter and exhaust, i installed a hidden antenna. it doesn't cost much but it is a touch and go situation with regards to reception. i'm sure it can be improved but i've not made an effort to do so. give it a try first if you don't have an antenna. then if it doesn't suit your needs, resort to drilling a hole.
