This is a photo of the steering wheel that is in my car, this was in it when I bought it
Is this an E9 wheel?
Can someone point me to a photo of what a 1972 would have come with?
With all the photos of aftermarket wheels, I am not sure
Thanks

That isn't a stock coupe wheel but it's nice looking. Here is the original wheel from my '72 cs:

I bet coupeking or carl nelson could hook you up if you so choose. They are often replaced for something a little smaller in diameter and sportier.

Wheel

Chris first photo, shows the wheel installed on 95 % of the E9 '72.
The wheel you have -Steve- was the type installed on some countries in Europe (Italy, France) same year, along with yellow front lights and other mandatory country mods.
I don't know if this perticularity (wheel) also impacted the us type, or if you bought it from overhere ?.
On the german market, both are said to be Petris'

Marc

If you are looking for correct steering wheel options do a search on Petri and you will see the sport version. The stock wheel is also made by Petri but is usally referred to as the "bus" wheel..

The splines are the same but the horn button contacts are different. The E9 horn contact is on the steering column. The 2002 contact is on the steering wheel.

I'm running a wood rim 'bus' E9 wheel on Vern, my 2002Tii, modified with the horn contact on the steering wheel.

On Athena I'm running a 380mm Petri.

The ebay steering wheel is missing everything.

I have one that has aluminum spokes with circular holes in them, but it is bent, I think I will try and straighten it and try it

On ebay I see wheels advertised and the sellers usually say 'E9 and 2002'
They are not comparable are they?

like this, says e9 and 2002:

Now I am puzzled, I looked at a lot of BMW steering wheel photos and can't find one like it, there is a MOMO I found that is similar but not quite, maybe it is from some other type of car
Oh well
