hi

a colleague has discovered these rims that were taken out from an e9:

the funny thing is that the car was equiped with 2 original alpina style rims like these ones:

so the car had 2 alpina style + 2 other style

can anyone identify the "other style" rims ?

are they original ? later design ?

regards and thanks

14x6?

That style of turbines came stock on later CSs - I'm sure someone will fill-in if it was '74 and/or '75.
I think if you search "turbine" on the forum you will find some past sales (not much $$)

The "squared" ribbed turbines were first fitted to the 5/6/7 series cars beginning in either late 1978 or 1979. The rim shown (Alpina styled) in the second pic was introduced on the late coupes, e3 sedans and the early 6 series coupes. Believe they were all 14X6" wheels.

I had the upper turbines in 1977 Euro E24 I had. I liked them very much, they are so close to the Alpinas yet are worth much less, go figure.

Looking at all the various original BMW FACTORY BROCHURES (scroll down to BMW section), the "square ribbed" spoke rims were not introduced until sometime in 1977/1978. Personally, I like the smooth contoured spokes of the earlier rims (Alpina copy) much better. the later spokes are just too fussy appearing.
