Hi all, last thing to do on the car electrically is the wipers, I have rebuilt the wiper motor and gearbox, repainted etc, have tested, all seems well and it runs nice straight of the battery.

But we get to the switching and the intermittent feature and I'm not 100% on how it should all work

So, to get a grip on things can anyone tell me firstly how the switching should work, the car is a RHD so I believe the switching may be different to the LHD cars, I think it is meant to work like this, please tell me if I'm wrong.

Push in the end of the RH steering column stork to turn on intermittent function,
Then 2 position switch on shifter surround---pull up to first position for 1st speed, pull up fully for second speed.

Am I on the right track here??

Next question---

Does the wiper control box up under the dash control the 2 speeds of the wiper motor and the intermittent function, or just the intermittent function ?

Thanks for any help

Steve,
Your description of function is identical to how the 2 speed wiper works on my Bavaria, which I believe to be the same as the E9 in this case.

Not sure about the control box function though.

The official wiring retrofit takes the stalk switch directly to a red indicator that reads "thou shall not drive me in the rain" in parallel with a buzzer resembling a dentist drill sound.

If you want the original function I think the stalk turns it on/off subject to three speeds: intermittent when console knob is down, continuous slow when pulled up one notch, continuous fast when pulled up two notches.

Fast is a relative term when it comes to this function...

Ok, thanks for that guys, looks like I'm on the right track.
Next thing to work out is why I have no power at the wiper motor plug, I have a sneaky suspicion the
Control box under the dash maybe kaput

Thanks
