Getting ready to install the hood latches, curious they do not seem to lock on the posts when closed, how is this supposed to work? Again I am restoring and car that came disassembled so I at a loss. Need to find a hood release cable too. Any info would be appreciated.

you might want to post a couple of pix so we know what your problem is. sometimes its a function of putting something on reverse to what you have. also be careful not to latch the hood without a cable in place ... might be hard to reopen the hood.

It is the latch, most cars you firmly close the hood and it "Latches", these seem like you need to pull the hood release cable to latch them, reserve of what most cars are. How do you shut your hood and latch it.

Yes, gently close the hood, then you pull the hood release arm to latch, at least that's how I do it.

They will sit on the latch but pulling hood cable is Always required. New cables are still available from BMW and don’t adjust them so tight that it is hard to latch, the new cable end can snap.

Some members have installed a third-party adjustable arm braces, in lieu of the hood holder - check with Drew Gregg.

Richard--I think you might be referring to the after-market stress bar I have along the firewall attached to the strut studs. All of the other parts are stock.
The torsion bar across the hood is polished bare metal instead of being painted.---Drew
