Hood retention cable fix?

Had posted a question about the bowden cable used to hold the hood shut. I keep breaking them close to the crimped pivot pin or brass anchor. It seems a shame to replace the entire cable just for the sake of the broken anchor. I was hoping someone had an alternative fix rather than just buying a new cable. In the meantime, I silver soldered the pivot anchor back on and it seems to be holding fairly well. :wink:

cause of breakage? Probably misalignment. Also possible too much tension on cable.
