Hood roundel

Has anyone replaced the front roundel was part number 51 14 1 811 992 lately? I do remember replacing mine about 4-5 years ago without any glitches. Just have to provide the local BMW dealer with the number.

Amy, I couldn't find the part number you referenced. Looking at realoem.com, that part number for the hood roundel appears to be 51145081747 and the base is 51145780170. The two required rubber grommets are 51141807495.

Looking further on another parts site, I found that "your" P/N was an "old" number that was superseded by the one I found.

the question to ask is does the roundel have the raised BMW? or what part number has the raised letters ...

I remember Sooner had some IIRC, but its been a long time ago...did BMW bring the old style back?...

The "new" one I have is raised not the filled. I feel certain it is the superseded one, replaced it about 5-6 years ago.

I'm not the most savvy business person, but I question the wisdom of seeking to save a few pennies on a prominent part displaying the symbol of your brand on the hood and trunk of every vehicle you manufacture when the cost of doing so is having thousands and thousands of shabby looking "Ultimate Driving Machine" hoods and trunks on the roads worldwide.
