hood support bracket

My left side hood support bracket looks like it is tearing away from its mount. I hope photos can show you what I see. Anyone else done this fix on the car? Also, one 10 mm mounting bolt, because of the tear, no longer is threaded onto the bracket, and I see some thread on the shaft of the bolt as in photo. Suggestions? Longer bolt, welding??

I had the same problem, if it's just tearing away from the mount you can go to HD and get a slightly longer bolt and you may try the next size up. Even if you cross thread it to get it tight I think that's OK because you don't really have many choices besides re-doing the mount and then you'll need a new piece anyhow. If the weld is tearing then now is the time to fix it. If you remove the brace you can wire it up and then you don't have to make the tool to re-spring it (see de Q's thread) if need be, but I was able to weld mine without losing the torsion.

hood bracket

Excellent Peter, just what i was looking for, I was hoping to get this secured before it became a no looking back, complete re-do of hood support. I have read those threads! Mike
