How hard is it to take the dash out?

I explain it a bit and have pics in the deconstruction thread (in my signature)

the tuff part is sliding out the top piece
you lift on the right a little then the other side abit
and then lift it from the front carteful not to break the center or the "tips" on the ends
and gently slide it back and up and out

The dash is very fragile. I didn't break my tips removing the dash but cracked both putting the dash in a box that wasn't very accommodating. Doh!

Fortunately the vinyl didn't tear so I'll glue the brittle foam back together.

Taking an e9 dash out is just sort of hard. Putting it back in is more difficult, especially if you want everything to line up.

Note that the e9 dash is made up of many pieces which get assembled in place; you can't build a dash sub-assembly on the bench and then install the whole thing as a unit.

I see... maybe i should just access what i need and leave the rest alone..

Is an e3 dash the same, i.e., many sub assemblies or one unit?

My post #8 only applies to the e9. Although I have owned a couple of e3's, I never had to remove their dashes.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the e3 dash is simpler - more metal & plastic, less wood. But honestly, I don't really know.
