how many quarts of tranny oil?

Very non-technical answer is that hypoid oil is what you use in your differential. It has additives that are good for high pressure needs but which damage transmission synchronizers.

I always start with a couple of quarts of Redline, because it is hard to pump the bottle empty given the access to the filler hole on the trans.
