How much power can gearbox and clutch take?

I am asking because I may need to show that to be able to get my car reproofed for higher power outtake if I add a MegaSquirt and a new exhaust.

The gearbox is the standard 5 speed replacement one off an early 80s six. Not sure about the designation :( I think clutch is the standard one.

And is there any kind of document that shows this?

May also have to upgrade brakes but that does not seem to be a huge issue? Especially since I have 16" wheels.

I know the question is a little fuzzy but I am sure someone knows this :)

Tried to search in old threads but could not find anything.

Thanks,

Johan

Considering those boxes are usually in turbo 5-ers with 350+ rwhp, it should be fine. The chassis is more what you have to be concerned with when it comes to increasing the power.

Oh true, but I am not going to race with the car or drive it like a ricer. So no revving it up and dropping the clutch :)

I just want it to generally be more responsive. Not going for 300hp, if I am very lucky I might get to 240 or so and a bit more torque of course. And I see it as a fun project I can learn a lot from.
